In DC power grids, DC/DC converters are crucial equipment for interconnecting lines of different voltage levels, requiring large capacity and high reliability. This article proposes a high current bidirectional DC/DC converter with fault blocking capability. The proposed topology has high current stress and can quickly block DC side short circuit faults. Firstly, the working principle of the proposed topology was analyzed, followed by its fault suppression strategy and fault current calculation under different types of DC side short circuit faults. Finally, a ± 300MW simulation model was built to verify its fault blocking ability and the correctness of the fault current calculation method.
