In this study, we introduce an advanced approach for assessing lightning positions in overhead distribution lines (OHLs) by integrating Monte Carlo methods and the Electric-Geometric Model (EGM). Unlike conventional probabilistic frameworks, our method incorporates crucial parameters such as lightning position and waveform characteristics, providing a more comprehensive and realistic evaluation of lightning protection strategies. The innovation's key strengths lie in its accuracy, realism, and applicability for risk assessment, offering valuable insights to enhance the reliability of overhead distribution line networks and minimize power failures resulting from lightning-induced faults.
