Research on Hybrid Energy Collection Methods Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor nodes, as the basic components of wireless sensor networks, are mainly responsible for important tasks such as data acquisition, signal processing, and interconnection communication. Their traditional power supply method is mainly battery powered. The shortcomings of battery power include limited capacity, replacement costs, and environmental pollution. In order to provide a cleaner, long-term, reliable, and low-cost power supply method, this paper studies a hybrid environmental energy harvesting system. Through piezoelectric and photoelectric transducers, the vibration energy and light energy in the environment are converted into electrical energy, and the electrical energy is extracted to the voltage conversion circuit at maximum power through interface circuits. In response to the problem of unstable output voltage of transducers caused by easily changing environmental conditions, this paper designs three voltage converter control strategies with different operating modes to obtain a wider input voltage range; At the same time, in response to the unstable input power from environmental energy, energy storage components are used to assist the transducer in supplying power to the load. Finally, a simulation experimental platform was built, and the results showed that the output of the hybrid energy harvesting scheme has good dynamic and steady-state performance.
