The soybean is a great source of both protein and oil, making it a versatile crop. Despite of the fact that China is considered to have its historical origin, it is widely farmed and consumed all over the world. There are many different applications for soybean, such as in the food processing industry, medicine, animal feed, and other industrial applications. Additionally, it is a significant source of saponin and is utilized in the manufacturing of biodiesel. Recent research has concentrated on the improvement in soybean crop by the use of genetic transformation, namely in the areas of features linked to resistance to herbicides, phosphate absorption, nitrogen-use efficiency, water use efficiency/drought tolerance, and adaptability to abiotic stress. The implementation of these enhancements has the potential to boost crop output, lessen the impact of environmental pollutants, and make soybean cultivation more environmentally friendly. The chapter help describe about the numerous genetic improvement strategies that are currently being implemented for the creation of a sustainable soybean crop.
