Thermal comfort is the state of satisfaction of the human body with the thermal environment. In the architecture and urban planning fields, several studies in the scientific literature have attempted to provide some answers to the question of gender impact on thermal sensation in Arab cities’ universities, which are characterized by a hot climate during most of the year. The main objective of this pilot study is to conduct a subjective investigation by using the questionnaire as a research tool to assess the effect of gender on occupants’ thermal perception at the Effat University of Jeddah. The findings from this research show that there is a slight difference between the thermal sensation of male and female occupants, where female students in hot conditions are more sensitive to the thermal environment than males especially under cold conditions due to the cooling system for the indoor spaces of the university. The findings of this research provide a key perspective for further research focusing on the future of Saudi Arabia’s university sector that of shifting from an exclusively men’s or women’s university model to that of a mixed-gender university.
