In their campaign against Qatar before and during the 2022 World Cup, many Western media activists were accused of hypocrisy, racism, and Islamophobia. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) did not only ignore the entire event but also aired a program that criticized “workers’ rights in Qatar”, highlighted “corruption in FIFA”, discussed “the ban on homosexuality in Qatar”, and mentioned “restrictions on alcohol” (Al Jazeera Mubasher, 2022). These were just a few examples of the allegations made by Western media to portray Qatar as uncivilized and devoid of cultural and civilizational values. Amid this aggressive onslaught from Western media against Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center was contemplating a strategy to address these accusations. This center stands as one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Doha, also known as the “Al Fanar Center,” named after the Al Fanar Mosque to which it is affiliated. This cultural center holds significant importance in the country, under supervision of the Qatari Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. It derives its name from the renowned Islamic scholar, Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud, who played a pivotal role in establishing Qatar’s judicial system (Safar Way, Information about Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid islamic cultural center, 2022).
