Taxonomy of Family: Genomoviridae
摘要
The Genomoviridae is a new family of single-stranded (ss) viruses with small circular single-stranded (ss) DNA genomes of approximately 1.8–2.4 kb in size. They infect eukaryotes, and the genomes encode a capsid protein (CP) and a rolling-circle replication initiation protein (Rep). Members of the family infect hosts in all three domains of life and include medically and environmentally important viral pathogens. The genomes are encoded by rolling-circle Rep and unique ambisense orientation capsid proteins (Krupovic et al. 2016). The CP sequences are not similar to the CP sequences of other known viruses, but the Rep is homologous to those of other eukaryotic ssDNA viruses, particularly to plant-infecting members of the family Geminiviridae, sharing several unique sequence motifs but forming a separate group in phylogenetic analyses (Kazlauskas et al. 2019).
