In this manuscript, we exhibit a graphene-based patch antenna comprised of monolayered graphene. The patch having dimension 20 × 20 μm2 is mounted on the upper side of the silicon substrate of dimension 30 × 35 μm2. The ground plane is below the substrate with the same dimension 30 × 35 μm2. The proposed antenna provides a bandwidth of 2.49 THz or 2490 GHz in the THz region from 1.69 THz to 4.18. The designed antenna exhibits a significant reflection coefficient of − 28.20 dB at 3.57 THz. The maximum gain of the design is obtained as 4.320 dBi. The antenna is a highly directive antenna that provides a maximum directivity of 6.754 dBi. The designed one is found to be a fit candidate aimed at high data rate transmission in indoor communication, spectroscopy applications, and THz imaging.
