Weeds compete with soybean crops for essential resources such as water, light, and nutrients, particularly during the initial stages of crop development. Grasses, sedges, and broadleaf plants are the common types of weeds found in soybean fields. Among the grasses Acrachne racemosa, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Digitaria sanguinalis, Eragrostis pilosa, Commelina benghalensis, Cynodon Dactylon, and Xanthium pensylvanicum, sedges like Cyperus rotundus, Cyperus iria and broad leaf weeds like Chenopodium album, Eclipta alba, Trianthema portulacastrum, Digera arvensis, Amaranthus viridis, and Phyllanthus niruri were mostly found in soybean. This chapter endeavors to examine the various approaches to weed control in soybean crops, encompassing preventive, cultural, mechanical, biological, and chemical methods. Farmers have the option to employ integrated weed management (IWM), combining two or more of these strategies to enhance weed control throughout all crop growth stages.
