The proliferation of automobiles in recent years has led to a significant rise in issues related to drowsy driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Consequently, problems stemming from drunk driving, including an increase in road accidents and vehicle theft, have become increasingly complex and pervasive. Indeed, innovative efforts are being designed and implemented to improve road safety. This project harnesses Arduino technology in conjunction with the MQ-3 sensor to monitor alcohol levels in a driver’s breath, promoting responsible driving practices. The system promptly detects and analyzes the alcohol levels. If the levels are above the acceptable threshold, the system prevents the engine from starting by activating a safety mechanism. This mechanism incorporates visual indicators and audible alarms to promptly notify the driver. Conversely, if alcohol levels fall within the permissible range, the system grants permission for the engine to start, facilitating safe driving. In this way, it provides an effective solution to combat the ongoing issue of drunk driving.
