Upon consulting primary sources and scholarly research, I have looked at the missionary geography of the Society of Jesus and divided it into two parts: the first section is characterized by the principles defining the Jesuits and their connection to the Portuguese CrownPortuguese Crown/Protectorate (1540–1759) as well as the extinction/suppression of the Society of Jesus (1759; 1773); the second part focuses on: (i) the process of restoration (1863); (ii) the establishment of the Portuguese Province and extinctions/exiles until 1974, followed by the main activities that have occurred each time this has happened.
