Regarding computational modelling of FSI systems including those encountered in coastal/offshore engineering, the presence of complex flow fields, topological changes and moving boundaries, intense fluid–structure interactions and non-linear structural responses bring about distinct challenges that necessitate the establishment of precise mathematical and numerical modelling with robust computational solvers.
