Silk bio-composites are promising classes of materials which combine the unique qualities of silk along with other natural or synthetic components. The utilization of silk fibres as bio-composite matrices permits the creation of materials with improved mechanical characteristics, biocompatibility and sustainability. The proteinaceous and semicrystalline structure of silk fibres assist them to form bio-composites, and the amino acid composition of silk fibre particularly the high content of glycine, serine and alanine has a vital importance in the building of composites. Bio-composite materials have shown substantial significance in several applications, including tissue engineering, medication delivery, biosensors, textiles and wearables and electronics.

摘要
