The Effects of Muscle Energy Technique on Range of Motion and Pain in Patients with Post Arthroscopic Knee Surgery Stiffness

Muscle energy technique (MET) is a form of manual therapy that uses muscles’ own energy in the form of gentle isometric contraction to relax the muscle via reciprocal or autogenic inhibition and lengthen the muscle. Post-operatively, the complications of knee arthroscopy are nerve damage, which decreases the range of motion, persistent pain, and stiffness of the joint. This study aims at the effects of MET on pain and range of motion given in early rehabilitation. In the current study, 25 patients who had prevalence musculoskeletal complications after knee arthroscopy surgery was selected. Out of which eighteen are male and seven are female. To identify the prevalence, each patient's range of motion and VAS score for pain sensation were recorded. The same patients have introduced to MET for another seven days. A statistical test was performed to identify the significant difference between pre- and post-values.
