Over the past two decades, China’s comprehensive national strength has continuously increased, leading to significant changes in the national spatial pattern and profound impacts on the world economy and global urban systems. The country’s share of global GDP has risen from 3.6 to 17.0%, making it the world’s second-largest economy after the United States. The urban population has grown from 450 to 930 million, experiencing the largest and fastest urbanization process in world history.
