Composite Model Studies on Hamirpur Barrage
摘要
The Hamirpur Barrage, a critical hydraulic infrastructure across the river Koel near the village Hamirpur in the Sundergarh district of the State of Odisha plays a pivotal role in stream storage for water conservation, maintaining minimum environmental flow requirements, etc. To enhance the efficiency and safety of this vital structure, extensive composite model studies were conducted to perform hydraulic analysis. This abstract presents the outcomes specifically focusing on three key aspects: to examine the proposed energy dissipation arrangement downstream, the assessment of the adequacy of vent way for the barrage bay, to observe the flow features. These composite model studies’ main aim is to scrutinize the proposed energy dissipation arrangement downstream of the Hamirpur Barrage across a spectrum of flow conditions. The composite model facilitated the visualization of flow characteristics, enhancing understanding of the hydraulic behavior in the region. The barrage was subjected to extreme flow conditions, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of the performance. The knowledge generated through this study will inform decision-making regarding the ongoing management of the Hamirpur Barrage.
