My interest in the theory of artistic conception began in 1983 when I read Wu Lipu’s manuscript Research on Chinese Painting Theory (Zhongguo hualun yanjiu). That year, Mr. Wu Lifu, professor at Fudan University, sent this manuscript to his old friend Zhu Guangqian, hoping it could be included in the Peking University Aesthetic Literature Series (Beijing daxue wenyi meixue congshu).

My interest in the theory of artistic conception began in 1983 when I read Wu Lipu’s manuscript Research on Chinese Painting Theory (Zhongguo hualun yanjiu).
