Porosity and Bulk Density of Porous Materials

The physical and chemical properties related to porous mineral materials and other porous materials, such as thermal insulation, sound absorption and insulation, ion exchange, adsorption, catalysis, separation, filtration assistance, lightweight, shock absorption, heat resistance, sealing, and air permeability, are closely related to the development degree of their pore structures. In other words, for a certain porous material, the more developed the pore structure is, the more prominent its related physical and chemical properties will be and vice versa.
