Brucite (Mg(OH) 2 or MgO·H 2O) is a layer-structured magnesium hydroxide. Among them, fibrous brucite with important industrial significance is called nemalite. In the classification of mineral crystal chemistry, brucite belongs to the hydroxide class, the layered hydroxide subclass, and the brucite group. In the structural-functional classification of mineral raw materials in mineral material science, brucite (nemalite) belongs to the one-dimensional structural mineral category and the functional mineral subcategory.
