China is a major country in terms of mineral resources and mining. It has discovered 173 types of mineral resources, of which 162 have confirmed reserves. The variety of minerals is relatively comprehensive, and China has a complete exploration and development system. Its major mineral production and consumption rank among the top in the world (Ministry of Land and Resources 2016). Today, more than 90% of primary energy sources, 80% of industrial raw materials, and over 70% of agricultural production materials come from mineral resources. Thirty percent of industrial and agricultural production water as well as urban and rural residential water come from groundwater (Mineral Resources Industry Standards Manual Compilation Committee 2021). Therefore, mineral resources are the foundation of development and essential for production. The reasonable development and utilization and protection of mineral resources are crucial to the overall modernization of China.
