Additionally, the challenges they confront in their everyday lives within cities are manifold compared to men. While sanitationSanitation and hygieneHygiene in India have remained the cornerstone of multiple discourses, little has been focused on the contention of important issues such as violenceViolence against womenWomen (VAW)Violence Against Women (VAW), migratory advancements, sanitationSanitation-related psychosocial stressesPsychosocial stresses and their implications on womenWomen. Through narratives and qualitative interviews, this research draws on the lived experiences of womenWomen dwelling in the slumsSlums of Delhi. It attempts to capture the multiple levels of vulnerabilitiesVulnerabilities enveloped within the beguiled course of migrationMigration that these womenWomen often come across in the slumsSlums of urban cities, and, how, such stories essentially influence in shaping their identitiesIdentity as well as deploying coping mechanismsCoping mechanisms to tackle the myriad customary challenges and stresses that lie ahead of them.
