Transition Metal Dichalcogenides: Application in Bioimaging and Diagnostics
摘要
Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D-TMDs) are new materials with fascinating features that are driving research in several areas, including energy storage, electronics, sensing, and catalysis. Due to their ultrahigh surface area, adaptable surface chemistry, tunable optical characteristics, tailored electrical features, and strong biocompatibility, 2D-TMDs have recently shown enormous potential and advantages in biomedical systems. This chapter provides an overview of TMD applications in bioimaging and medical diagnostics. Also, a summary of the several synthesis methods for TMDs is provided. Following that, a brief discussion of TMDs in bioimaging is given, including fluorescence imaging, X-ray computed tomography, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), PAT (photoacoustic tomography), and multimodal imaging. After that, a comprehensive discussion of TMD-based biosensing technique for identifying biological components, including DNA and enzymes, is discussed. In addition, a summary of the present obstacles and anticipated developments in the field of 2D-TMD development for biomedical applications is provided. These exciting 2D-TMDs are expected to have a solid practical basis and contribute significantly to the next-generation biomedical field.
