In comparison to other countries in the world, the disaster law of the United States has several distinctive characteristics, including an early start time, a rapid development process, and a variety of content aspects. As early as 1803, Congress passed the first separate disaster law. From the 1950s to the 1970s, disaster law in the United States reached a peak of development, and the Stafford Act of 1988 outlines many modern society's federal disaster relief efforts. There is no doubt that the United States is the leader in disaster law in the world, from early information prediction to post-disaster recovery has a special team responsible for it. In this chapter, we will focus on the development path of disaster law in the United States, the social drivers of disaster law updates, the implementation system of act and the current challenge, and direction for the future.
