Disaster Management Law in Nepal
摘要
The Gorkha Earthquake 2015 was the latest in a series of major disasters that Nepal has faced, and it prompted the government to pass the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act 2017 to improve the country’s ability to cope with disasters. In December 2019, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority was created. Furthermore, the Constitution of Nepal 2015 defines the powers and jurisdiction on disaster risk management of the three tiers of the government: federal, provincial, and local levels. The Disaster Risk Management Act’s provisions, their state of execution, and their relationship to the nation’s decentralized government structure will all be covered in this chapter.
