Understanding users plays a critical role in the success of any product, however, it is often difficult and leads to product failure. This failure is often caused due to the selection of the wrong audience and the inability to figure out the root cause. It is important to understand how users would behave when a product/stimulus is shown to them. In this study, to understand how people behave while interacting with the stimuli- the Stroop Effect (SE) and Multitasking Effect (MT) were introduced to the students. The SE is one of the popular methods in which the color of the stimulus is presented and Multitasking is running multiple programs on one computer at the same time. A total of 6 six teams with a total of 35 students took part in this study. During the data collection, each volunteer interacts with the stimulus with varying shapes, filled objects, and color of stimulus. The experiments were conducted using a tool: psytoolkit (Color Stroop paradigm and Multitasking paradigm). Afterward, to bridge the gap between the students learning about the user understanding and target audience, (i) the new stimuli-based pedagogy model was purposed to understand the target audience during the empathy stage of the design thinking process. The proposed approach helps the students and academic professionals to have a first-person experience in understanding the actual target audience.
