A Global Synthesis of the Impacts of Urbanisation on Amphibians
摘要
Land-use changes due to urbanisation remain one of the most ubiquitous causes of ecological disturbance. Urbanisation affects amphibians more than any other tetrapod. This chapter documents scientific evidence of urban stressors like roads, noise, light, and alien invasive species that disturb amphibian habitats and impact the amphibian population and summarises the potential changes in amphibian behaviours in response to urban stressors. This chapter concludes with recommendations for conservation and insights on future studies that must be carried out in the Global South, including rapidly developing nations like India.
