Experiments were conducted on the behaviour of swamp deer (Rucervus duvaucelii duvaucelii) at the National Zoological Park (NZP) New Delhi, India, in 2020. Three species of swamp deer with restricted range are endemic to India. Swamp deer is an obligate grassland-dwelling endemic cervid and the most extinction-prone mega herbivore in the Indian subcontinent. The species is vulnerable and differs from other members of the deer family (Corvidae) having antlers with three tines. A health chart and disease history have been observed, and health monitoring was conducted during the study period based on behavioural observations of 16 (5M:11F) swamp deers (R. duvaucelii duvaucelii) at Beat No. 16, NZP, Delhi. Tuberculosis and pulmonary tuberculosis illnesses were identified to harm swamp deer population in the zoological park.
