Bird migration is a spectacular behavioural phenomena. Migration represents complex spatio-temporal patterns, and it balances between survival and fitness. Over the past decades, research on migration has made great studies, yet gaps remain. The studies and approaches to understanding migration have undergone transformations and state-of-the-art methods have emerged. World Migratory Day is an annual awareness-raising campaign commemorated every year on 8th October. It is to highlight the importance of conserving migratory birds and their habitats. It is a global effort and an effective tool to create awareness of the threats to migratory birds, their ecological importance and the need for international cooperation. Artificial light is increasing globally and affecting several bird species. Bird Cast introduced 3-day migration forecasts and released a major expansion called Migration Dashboard that permits one to see actual migration patterns. This data is compiled with real-time radar data to create continental maps and waves of migration; migration is a multidiscipline activity and integrating them is necessary to understand the process and develop effective strategies to conserve migratory birds.
