This study aims to conduct a comprehensive numerical analysis of flow through sudden expansion and dump diffuser geometries for different Reynolds numbers. The research focused on the flow behavior in three distinct Reynolds numbers in the above geometries, incorporating a Newtonian principle and incompressible fluid dynamics. Two-dimensional analysis has been carried out considering fully developed flow at the inlet for both geometries. The outer casing wall pressure variation curve is plotted for two types of geometries, and the investigation includes an examination of velocity contours and axial velocity profile variations at different axial positions of the geometry. The numerical analysis provides a thorough assessment of flow behavior inside the sudden expansion region and central restricted region of the geometries. The pivotal findings reveal that the dump diffuser geometry demonstrates superior performance in terms of pressure recovery within the specified Reynolds number ranges. These results confirm the positive influence of providing central restriction for diffuser geometries.

摘要
