Telemedicine in India: Bridging Healthcare Gaps Through a Socio-Legal Lens
摘要
The Telemedicine Industry is a rather contemporary phenomenon causing legislative lacunas to arise due to its nascence in the medical ecosystem. COVID-19 was a severe trigger for the industry to bloom due to lockdowns and social distancing policies. Since a hasty regulation was put in place for this industry, there remain several domains which require immediate attention for an effective growth of this medical service in the future. The industry brings several benefits for the Indian population, remote and rural ones in particular. This research is an attempt at highlighting those benefits, lacunas and possibilities that can be accrued with a more holistically planned telemedicine regulation. The article also dives into the specificities of harms that come to the populace in the status quo. India has lot to gain from this step only if it is taken with proper legislative intent as well as socio-legal policy measures.
