Huge data is generated and analyzed to churn out information for knowledge and gain wisdom and understanding about the flow of data to predict the future and take viable decisions. Smart city is one of the examples wherein by using big data improved services to its residents can be offered. Since everything in the smart city is technology enabled, the importance of big data Analytics and the Internet of Things (IoT) with reference to a smart city cannot be subsided and the focus of the present paper is understanding a holistic and sustainable development though technological adoption. This paper examines the role of all interdependent components which support a smart city development such as public safety, energy, healthcare, and transportation. The paper also identifies the difficulties in implementing IoT and big data Analytics in smart cities and offers suggestions for their effective implementation. Based on NVIVO analysis the paper also identifies 12 major dimensions that through qualitative analysis are found to affect adoption behavior towards IoT and related technology largely.

摘要
