Endovascular embolization is an option for pre-surgical treatments of brain arteriovenous malformation (bAVM) by reducing the local blood pressure in the nidus and lowering bleeding risk. Liquid embolic materials are frequently used for this medical treatment, while a new development of these devices requires multiple steps in regulatory pathways, including pre-clinical animal studies as laboratory experiments. For the purpose of the quick screening of the devices being tested in the animal studies, an in vitro bAVM vascular model was established and evaluated in the present study on the basis of five property indicators, such as volume injected for complete embolization, injection force quantification, work of injection, viscosity-temperature profile, and viscosity rising temperature, for analyzing the correlation of the indicators.
