Key performance indicators are a subset of quantifiable elements that have an impact on air quality. This paper aims to identify the key performance indicators (KPIs) affecting the air quality of an urban smart city like Ahmedabad and to establish a methodology for evaluating KPIs using the Factor Comparison Method which is based on the multi-criteria decision-making method. The existing air quality of Ahmedabad is moderate. The air quality index (AQI) of Ahmedabad on average is 106.57. It has been observed that indices of particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) has been found to be 85.7, PM10 has been found to be 98.7, NO2 has been found as 22.85, and SO2 has been found as 6.57. The Factor Comparison Method assesses two factors while assigning specific weights and then develops a factored matrix where specific weights are assigned to each factor, and finally, each factor can be ranked according to priority. Furthermore, depending on the results of the factored matrix, a decision matrix has been developed which would enable us to make decisions for the most significant factor affecting the air quality of Ahmedabad. Also, it has been found that numerous KPIs, encompassing meteorological, natural, transportation, urbanization, land use-land cover, and miscellaneous parameters, have a significant impact on air quality.
