Journeying with Peace of Mind: Reinventing Luggage Safety for Land Explorers

Traveling is a fundamental part of our lives, as we embark on journeys for various reasons such as exploring new cultures, learning, relaxation, and business. The choice of transportation, whether by road, water, or air, depends on the specific journey’s context. Regardless of the mode of travel, carrying luggage is always necessary, and we use a range of equipment, including suitcases, handbags, and backpacks. Ensuring the safety and security of our luggage is of utmost importance during our travels. While air travel has received significant attention in terms of safety and security measures, it is equally crucial to address the safety and security of luggage for passengers traveling by buses and trains. This paper highlights the need to provide safety and security solutions for travelers using bus and train transport. To address this issue, researchers conducted surveys through online questionnaires, interviews, and on-site visits. The survey results revealed that bus and train travelers need solutions to enhance the safety and security of their luggage. After identifying the problem and gathering data from various sources, researchers propose a simple, cost-effective, and sustainable design solution based on IoT principles, utilizing the A9G GSM GPRS Board. With this newly designed and affordable device, travelers can continue using their existing luggage-carrying equipment, increasing its durability and contributing to their personal and overall sustainability. This research primarily focuses on budget-friendly solutions for enhancing the safety and security of luggage-carrying equipment. However, it opens the door for exploring more advanced, high-tech solutions in the future.
