Modeling of Single Particle Damper for Structures Under Variable Frequency Loading
摘要
In the last few decades, passive vibration control systems have been broadly used. With time tuned mass damper has proven to be one of the most effective passive vibration control devices that works effectively within a desired frequency range but for systems where the structure is exposed to varying frequency, the effectiveness reduces drastically. Particle dampers have emerged as one of the effective damping solutions but not extensively used for many cases because of its nonlinear behavior and relatively complex applicability. In this paper, a numerical investigation is attempted on structure with Single Particle Damper to be considered as an effective alternative to tuned mass damper for structures that can be exposed to varying frequency range. The study presents a robust model with impressive results that includes the effectiveness of different modeling parameters and its effect on energy dissipation and dynamic response reduction of a single degree of freedom system.
