Comparative Study on the Performance of Trapezoidal Shape Spin Fin Pile Under Various Loading Conditions
摘要
Spin fin pile is a new pile-modification strategy that has four plates welded to the top or to the bottom of a traditional monopile. The present work aims to study the performance of the model trapezoidal shape spin fin piles embedded in sand bed. In the experimental investigation, trapezoidal shape spin fin pile was considered viz., fins at the top for lateral loading and fins at bottom for vertical and uplift loading. The ultimate capacities of piles are compared for loose sand (40%) and medium-dense sand (55%) with same diameter and length. The results show that trapezoidal shape spin fin piles in medium-dense sand give more ultimate bearing capacity than in loose sand.
