A Solar Tracking Feasibility Study for Developments in Solar Tracking Systems
摘要
The first era was just using photo-voltaic panels fixed on the ground, and the second is all about the tracking systems of the active and passive types. In India, most systems are of the fixed type where the panels stay on the ground for the rest of their life. But significant research and development are being done for the solar tracking systems where the panel itself moves as the sun traces in the sky. As a result of the tracking system, according to the research, the solar conversion efficiency can increase up to 50%, but at what cost is this gain practical? The paper examines the cost of power generation using solar panels in India concerning the rest of the world and the photovoltaic module manufacturing cost, design, and overall output of both active and passive solar tracking with cost-effectiveness. At last, time-dependent passive tracking is proposed which is cost-effective in Indian terrain.
