This paper presents an analysis of the energy consumption and potential energy conservation measures for the University Teaching Department, Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India, which is located in a composite climate. The study was conducted using the eQUEST software to simulate the building’s energy performance and assess the impact of various factors such as building envelope, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), U-value, and lighting power density (LPD). The baseline model was developed according to the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC)-2017, while the proposed model was based on the actual conditions of the existing building. The simulation results revealed that the building is capable of achieving a 27.45% reduction in energy costs. The Energy Performance Index (EPI) of base case model is 0.163 while of proposed model is 0.118. The study recommends energy conservation measures such as reducing lighting power density and using more efficient equipment to further reduce energy consumption.
