Development of Digital Twin for Real-Time Monitoring and Virtual Commissioning Applications in an Assembly Line
摘要
Virtual commissioning reduces lead time and saves cost during new product implementation in an assembly line. A part of this paper conveys about implementing a new set of operations for a new product and the ways of finding the bottlenecks before physical implementation through virtual commissioning of the workstation for the pallet from the DCV assembly to Cotter joint assembly. This paper aims in developing the real-time emulation of a workstation by connecting it through PLC which serves as copula among the real physical asset and the digital replica (twin) of the machine. Since the digital twin model is data driven, the actual movements in the work station are compared with the movements of the digital twin and arrived with an adjustable time dilation of about 20 ms, which apparently conveys the readiness in monitoring the digital twin in real time. Ladder logic of PLC are game changers in industrial automation, this paper also discusses about the validation of the ladder logic for new product assembly. This paper also conveys about implementing a new set of operations for a new product through virtual commissioning of the workstation for the pallet from the DCV assembly to Cotter joint assembly. This paper gives the readers the preliminary idea of how to make a digital twin for the assembly operations using Emulate3D software and how to analyze the data for real-time monitoring applications.
