The total hand value properties responses to a series of sericin treated polyester fabric were investigated. The fabric surface properties response includes, coefficient of friction, mean deviation of friction and surface roughness. Bulk density of sericin treated fabrics are also investigated. The fabrics were produced with different treatment including plasma treatment. Bulk density of sample C fabric without alkaline treatment followed with sericin and glutaraldehyde is characterized by lower value and sample D alkaline followed by plasma treatment accompanied with sericin and glutaraldehyde applied fabric exhibits highest value of bulk density. Coefficient of friction shows a reduction in all samples. Surface roughness is lower for fabric samples D and E alkaline treatment followed by sericin with glutaraldehyde treated fabric and highest value of surface roughness is obtained for fabric sample C. It was observed that all sericin treated fabric shows an increase in Total hand value and sample C (fabric is treated with Glutaraldehyde with sericin), shows highest total hand value. Thus, the sericin treated polyester fabric is suitable for sportswear application.
