Cyber-Physical Systems: Its Foundation, Emergence, Possible Applications, and Issues with Reference to the Education Sector

Cyber-physical systems, i.e., CPS, were coined in the year 2006 by Ellen Gill and this is an example of the embedded system. This is simply the integration and deployment of next-generation computing systems which include combining digital, analog as well as physical components required for the integrated physics and logic. As far as developing critical infrastructure supported by smart services, improving digital qualities, etc. Cyber-physical systems are quite worthy and impactful. Regarding building healthy and interactive including personalized computational systems and traffic management systems, managing emergency response systems, managing electric power generation, etc. Cyber-physical systems are effective and highly required. Cyber-physical systems are basically functioning by humans. Different technologies and systems that are integrated with physics and logical reasoning help to implement cyber-physical systems. Cyber-physical systems are the real-world computation, communication, and controls supported by other allied technologies and systems which include data analytics, Cloud Computing, Fog Computing, Edge Computing, IoT, etc. This system is dedicated to developing and advancing the smartest things such as intelligent grids, intelligent cities, and automated cars. This chapter deals with the fundamentals and basics of cyber-physical systems such as basics, features and characteristics, functions, and roles including emerging roles. Moreover, this chapter is highly focused on applications and the emergence of cyber-physical systems in educational and academic contexts in contemporary scenarios.
