IoT Meal Master Using Augmented Reality

The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming more and more ubiquitous as its scope is expanding each day. Over the years we have seen many interesting implementations of this technology ranging from robotics to smart wearables and homes. It is interesting to note that despite having a multitude of IoT applications in the kitchen, there are not many when it comes to cooking and guidance. Traditionally, we scroll through a ton of recipes on the internet, and it gets confusing and boring to read through the list. Also, it becomes difficult to follow along as there is a lot of dependency on the weight of the ingredients and the quantities that we want to prepare. Our solution proposes the use of IoT and Augmented Reality (AR) to assist individuals while cooking and guide them during each step of the process. This paper will design a smart weighing scale based on load cells and an AR application that communicates with each other in real time. This allows the user to follow along the recipe and prepare accurate proportions in an immersive way as opposed to the traditional methods.
