Topology Optimization of Wind Turbine Structural Components
摘要
A wind turbine generator (WTG) consists of several mechanical parts such as rotor blades, nacelle cover, nacelle interior, tower structure, and foundation. The adapter plate is the central part of the transition piece and serves as the connecting element between the transition piece and the lattice tower. Excess stress on this part will cause localized failure and must be optimized to control deformation of top tower structure and rotor assembly. Traditional linear scaling techniques do not provide a design solution for optimization because with this approach component sizes become large and impractical. This article documented the development of an improved topology optimization technique for topology optimization of HLT wind turbines. The adapter plate component was selected for the optimization study due to its critical role and design complexity. This article reports on design analysis and topology optimization using ANSYS. The study highlights new adapter plate design with equivalent stiffness with change in mass and Von-Mises stresses.
