Basidiocarps annual, laterally stipitate, fleshy when fresh, aromatic, soft corky when dried. Pileus circular or spathulate, projecting up to 3 cm, 6 cm wide, and 8 mm thick; pileal surface pale grey to pale purplish brown, hirsute-hispid; margin obtuse, slightly incurved. Pore surface cream to yellow; pores angular, 1–2 per mm; dissepiments thin, entire or lacerate. Sterile margin almost lacking. Context pale yellow when dried, up to 4 mm thick. Tubes concolorous with context, decurrent to upper part of stipe, up to 4 mm long. Stipe concolorous with pileus or greyish white on upper part, up to 4 cm in diameter. Basidiospores 11–15 × 4.2–5.5 μm, fusiform, slightly curved at both ends, hyaline, thin-walled, smooth, 1-guttulate, inamyloid, acyanophilous.
