In the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, China’s politics “is not only an internal participant in the reform process, but also an observer and introspectionist of the great reform cause” (Jing et al. 2012). China’s politics witnessed, participated in, and promoted the construction of China’s political civilization in reform and opening-up. On the basis of introducing foreign political theory knowledge systems, China also strives for discipline autonomy, explores the construction of local original political theories, and “constructs independent Chinese politics discipline system and discourse system” (Yang 2018). Since the reform and opening-up, the progress of China’s political theory has been reflected in two interrelated and mutually reinforcing two-way movements. One is to keep pace with the times by introducing the ideological resources and theoretical paradigms of foreign political theories; the other is to build local original political theories based on China’s political practice and political development path.
