China’s modern higher education enjoys a history of more than 100 years since the establishment of the Imperial University of Peking. However, the development of higher education administration as a subject of academic research or as a discipline is relatively late and short. Before 1949, although some famous educators published their insights on higher education administration in the practice of running schools, the foundation of higher education administration research was still quite weak, and there were no stable research teams or organized researches.
