Together with the economic achievements of reform and opening-up, economic law and its studies have been involved in the most significant and controversial reforms of the economic system over the past four decades. Moreover, the blurred distinction between public and private sectors of economic law has undergone a process of continual deregulation of the planned economy, gradual and insufficient marketization, and competition escalation. From overall state control to the emerging need for privatization within society and its reorganization after individualization at a certain spatial level, Chinese economic system, from the government policy slogans to the Gestalt iconography of mainstream public opinion (Hager 1989), has experienced dramatic change during this period, led by varying degrees of social and public governance.
