At present, ethnogeography, whether in the field of human geography or ethnology, ethnogeography, as an emerging marginal discipline in a complete sense, still lacks the basic academic foundation and disciplinary concept. However, the development of any discipline can be said to be a long historical development process if it starts from the accumulation of traceable data. Similarly, the accumulation of data of ethnogeography is also a long process, which has a deep historical origin with history, geography and ethnology. This chapter will place the author's research in the historical background of China, trace the historical origin of ethnology and geography, take the development clues of ethnogeography as the main outline, and comprehensively examine the academic development history of ethnogeography in different time periods.
