Addressing contemporary sustainability challenges demands a reevaluation of innovation management practices, given the urgency of climate-related issues and the accelerating pace of innovation cycles. Traditional approaches may fall short in tackling long-term sustainability problems, necessitating adaptable strategies. Project management and innovation management, conventionally treated as separate domains, often hinder the emergence of disruptive sustainable innovations. This study presents a pioneering framework, informed by insights from innovation studies and policy challenges, reimagined through the prism of sustainable innovation. Drawing inspiration from Lean Startup, Agile methodologies, and User-centric principles, this research advocates for their integration to overcome barriers obstructing sustainable innovation. In addition to outlining these innovative approaches, the study offers practical examples and a knowledge transfer pattern model. Our findings contribute significantly to the collective knowledge of both innovation and project management. Emphasizing the need for innovative strategies in managing sustainable innovation, we underscore the unique challenges this field presents. The proposed tools, together with concrete illustrations, provide valuable guidance for nurturing sustainable innovation initiatives. Encouraging further research and practical application, this study underscores the potential of integrating project management and innovation management to achieve transformative outcomes in the pursuit of sustainability.
