The chapter mainly describes and classifies the typical SPS types proposed internationally. In order to ensure the efficient operation of the SPS and supply power to the grid, it is necessary for the solar array (or concentrator) to be oriented towards the sun and the transmitting antenna to be oriented towards the receiving device on the ground. For GEO, the relative position change between the solar array (or concentrator) and the transmitting antenna is 360° in one orbit period. Due to the large volume, mass, and power of the SPS, how to handle the mutual position relationship between the solar array and the transmitting antenna becomes a core issue to consider in the design of the SPS. There are dozens of SPS concepts that have been proposed internationally, mainly based on microwave power transmission. By comparing various SPS concepts, they can generally be divided into three types, namely non-concentration continuous transmission type SPS, discontinuous transmission type SPS, and concentration type SPS. Laser power transmission SPS and lunar solar power station are also presented in the chapter.
